  This stretch of Saline River - Alum Fork in Arkansas is 20.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hot Springs, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience. This river system has a few good
    paddling sections and the Highway 5 to Benton City Park section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section has enough mileage
for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wonderful Saline County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The campgrounds here at Saline River - Alum Fork are pretty good.
