  The wonderful Saline County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hot Springs, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise
    and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The
Highway 5 to Benton City Park section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This section of Saline River - Alum Fork in Saline County is 20.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery.
