The starting location is a short drive from Little Rock-North Little Rock, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Saline County and the water flowing gracefully down Saline River - North Fork make the trip here worthwhile. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The beauty of the Ouachita Mountains is a great plus for this river. This stretch of Saline River - North Fork in Arkansas is 5.7 miles long and it is classified
as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Steel Bridge Road to Lyle Park stretch is one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. On this section you do get some distance,
suitable for an afternoon trip.
