The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down South Fourche LaFave will make you feel great. If you're coming from Russellville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The Highway 7 to Deberrie low-water bridge stretch of South
Fourche LaFave is 11.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+(III) section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The beautiful
Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is the only paddling section along South Fourche LaFave. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
