Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This stretch of Spirits Creek is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in
your car. There are no other stretches to paddle along Spirits Creek than the County Road 76 to County Road 2434 stretch. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The wonderful Newton County
scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the long summer days at Spirits Creek highs are commonly in the 90's while night lows are typically in the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Spirits
Creek descend into the 20's. A perfect site to have a look at in the vicinity of Spirits Creek is Deep Hollow, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Shores Lake Water Rock Spur. So much cool stuff to do here in the Boston Mountains, too great to be true. Spirits
Creek is a wet site that gets a great deal of rain; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture.
