Arkansas whitewater, Spring River

Fulton Sharp county, Mammoth Spring to Hardy section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-II     15 miles
This section of Spring River is 15 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The scenic beauty of Fulton/Sharp County and the water flowing gracefully down Spring River are reasons enough to
come here and paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. If you're coming from West Plains it's not a long drive at all to the
starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. The Mammoth
Spring to Hardy stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Lodging is available near the river, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
A nice location close to Spring River is Onion Hollow, and locations like Mammoth Spring State Park are wonderful to have a look at. All the outdoors exciting stuff in the Boston Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. You're sure to bump into some good people from Cherokee Village here, and some out of the ordinary geology is available here, Horseshoe Bend is right here.
