The put-in is not too far from Batesville, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Izard Sharp Lawrence Independence County and the water flowing gracefully down Strawberry River beats anything. This is the only paddling stretch along Strawberry River. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. This section of Strawberry River in Arkansas is 22 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Briefly about the general area: At Strawberry River throughout the summer highs are in the 90's, and the overnight is quite colder of course, commonly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and   nighttime lows in the 20's for Strawberry River. The high level of rain makes Strawberry River a quite wet place; May is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is January. Lofferty Springs is always fun to check out; Blue Hole is rather close. Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Boston Mountains.
