If you're coming from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be
more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Ozarks scenery is wonderful. War Eagle Creek doesn't have
a lot of paddling sections, the Highway 23 to War Eagle Mill section is the only one. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of War Eagle Creek is 38 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Since you're on this site
you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of precipitation makes War Eagle Creek a pretty wet place; the month of June is the wettest with most of the
rain; the driest of the months is January. Through the warm days of summer at War Eagle Creek temperatures are usually in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at War Eagle Creek temperatures dip to the 10's.
