The Pettigrew to Elkins section of White River in Arkansas is 37 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The put-in location is a short drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and     some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down White River beats anything. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Pettigrew to Elkins section is one of them. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out.
