The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great     campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The natural beauty of Madison Washington County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Pettigrew to Elkins section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. Briefly about the general area: During the warm months here at White River, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. During the winter   highs are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for White River. Near White River you come across great spots like Rowe Hollow. White River sees pretty high levels of rain; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is January.
