The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, as you can see on the road map further down. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The wonderful Madison Washington County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Pettigrew to Elkins stretch is one of them. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Briefly about the general area: You might want to pay a visit to Rowe Hollow while you're here at White River. White River gets a great deal of water; during   the month of May you get the most rain around here; January is the month with the least moisture. During the long summer days at White River highs are mostly in the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at White River plunge into the 20's.
