The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Wolf Bayou have people coming here. The Galens Road to Highway 14 section of Wolf Bayou in Arkansas is 6.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Wolf Bayou doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Galens Road to Highway 14 stretch is the only one. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The starting location is a short drive from Batesville, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one
of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months highs here at Wolf Bayou get into the 90's, and the nighttime is a tad
colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while Wolf Bayou overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Wolf Bayou a wet location; the month with most of the rain is March
while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Just can't get enough of the Boston Mountains. A good spot close to Wolf Bayou is Still Hollow, and do schedule some time to have a look at Burton Point if you have a chance.
