  The nature scenery of California and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This section of American River - Middle Fork in California is 7.1 miles long and has been rated as a class I(II) section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Sacramento—Arden-Arcade—Roseville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the former Greenwood Bridge to Mammoth Bar section is just one of many. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking
    here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The campgrounds here at American River - Middle Fork are pretty good. Great exercise and a chance to spend some
time outdoors will make you glad you came. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
