  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The former Greenwood Bridge to Mammoth Bar stretch of American River - Middle Fork is 7.1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I(II) section. The nature scenery of Placer / El Dorado County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the former Greenwood Bridge to Mammoth Bar stretch is just one of them. Getting
    some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at American River - Middle Fork are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're
coming from Sacramento—Arden-Arcade—Roseville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip.

Fork a rather wet place; most of the rain falls during January, and the driest of the months is July. Now, you may assume that's heaps but there's even more cool things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada.
Sardine Bar is a pleasant spot to visit next to American River - Middle Fork; if you're hooked on cool geologic features try Long Point. Throughout the summertime here at American River - Middle Fork, high temperatures typically reach the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at American River - Middle Fork.
