This stretch of American River - Middle Fork in California is 2.1 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Mosquito Ridge Road to confluence with Middle Fork stretch is just one     of many. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The put-in location is a short drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The wonderful California scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make   reservations in advance you're all set. Don't leave American River - Middle Fork without first going for a hike along the Bake Oven Trail, and a good site to explore close by is Skunk Canyon. All the water falling down from the sky makes American River - Middle Fork a wet site; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while July is generally the driest month. Summertime at American River - Middle Fork arrives with high temperatures in the 90's with overnight lows in the 60's. Highs throughout the wintertime are usually in the 50's with temperatures at American River - Middle Fork dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
