The Tadpole Creek to Euchre Bar stretch of American River - North Fork is 12.3 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of California
and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled
as well. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
