The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The Confluence with Middle Fork to Folsom Lake section of American River - North Fork is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. keep you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
