The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Strawberry to Kyburz section of American River - South Fork in California is 9.6 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from     the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful.
