This section of American River - South Fork in California is 9.6 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here     at American River - South Fork are pretty good. The natural beauty of El Dorado County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Strawberry to Kyburz stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
