Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river     for a while will have you coming back for more. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Sacramento—Arden-Arcade—Roseville, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful California scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Lotus Campground to Folsom Lake stretch is just one of them. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
