This stretch of Arroyo Hondo River is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. There's camping available near Arroyo Hondo River. This is     one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
