The beautiful scenery of Monterey County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Salinas, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The Santa Lucia Range scenery is wonderful. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will
have you coming back for more. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Willowcreek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area section is one of them. If you're a camper you
can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Willowcreek Bridge to Arroyo Seco Picnic Area section of Arroyo Seco River in Monterey County is 3 miles long and is a class IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that.

the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's while Arroyo Seco River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 40's. An average amount of rain falls at Arroyo Seco River; most of the rain falls throughout
January while July is usually the driest month. Take a hike on the Horse Pasture Trail; hiking along the Marble Peak Trail is great fun. That right there is a load of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Santa Lucia Range has it all.
