The nature scenery of Santa Clara/ Alameda County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are a few other stretches in this river system     that can be paddled as well. If you're coming from San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places.
