Manton Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III(IV) 13 miles
If you're coming from Red Bluff it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Battle Creek is 13 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The Manton Road stretch is one of a few
paddling stretches in this river system. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit
away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beauty of the Southern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
