If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch of Beegum Creek in Shasta / Tehama County is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Klamath Mountains is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you
might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The campgrounds here
at Beegum Creek are pretty good. The scenic beauty of Shasta / Tehama County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is the only paddling section along Beegum Creek. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: Walker Point is nearby and always delightful to explore, and nearby you hit upon brilliant places like Bear Gulch. At Beegum Creek throughout the summertime highs are in the 90's, and through
summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Beegum Creek drop into the 30's. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Klamath Mountains. There's great hiking
along the Bluford Trail. Beegum Creek gets a common amount of annual rain; January is the month that gets the most rain; July meanwhile is the driest month.
