This stretch of Beegum Creek in Shasta / Tehama County is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The river winds through the Klamath Mountains and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Beegum
Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the USFS Campground to State Highway 36 section is the only one. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and
near. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The wonderful Shasta / Tehama County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Bluford Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and taking a little trip to close by Walker Point is a perfect idea. A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Beegum
Creek; January is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is July. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Klamath Mountains. Nearby Bear Gulch is a tremendous place to go if you're at Beegum Creek. For the period
of the warm days of summer highs here at Beegum Creek reach the 90's, and the nighttime is quite chillier of course, usually in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Beegum Creek night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 30's.
