This section of Big Kimshew Creek in Butte County is -blank- miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.     If you're coming from Chico it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The to Confluence with West Fork of Feather section is the only paddling section along Big Kimshew Creek. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: Shake Ravine is a good spot to discover. Big Kimshew Creek is a good place of normal precipitation; through the month of January   you get the most snow around here; July on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year at Big Kimshew Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Kimshew Creek temperatures sink to the 20's.
