The starting point is not too far from Clearlake, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. On this section
you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way there are not so many other good spots for that around here. This section of Big Sulphur Creek in California is 4.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Close to Geysers to Iron Bridge stretch is one of them. The scenic beauty of California and the playfulness of the water have people coming here.
