The Headwaters at Basin to Middle Fork Eel stretch of Black Butte River is 24 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There's camping available near Black Butte River.     The Klamath Mountains scenery is wonderful. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are no other stretches to paddle along Black Butte River than the Headwaters at Basin to Middle Fork Eel stretch. The nature scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Chief Spring is a lovely spot to visit while you're at Black Butte River. All the water falling down from the sky makes Black Butte River a wet spot; the wettest month of the year is usually January, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with   the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the warm months highs here at Black Butte River reach the 90's; the overnight is fairly cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Black Butte River.
