  This stretch of Cache Creek in Lake / Yolo County is 18 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. If you're coming from Clearlake it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag.
    No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. The beautiful scenery of California and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Cache Creek are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
Through the warm months at Cache Creek temperatures are regularly in the 90's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's while Cache Creek night low temperatures
 
throughout the winter are in the 30's. Cache Creek is a good spot of common rain; January is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Cache Creek is in the vicinity of Petrified Canyon which is definitely worth taking a look at.
