The scenic beauty of Alpine County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. If you're coming from Gardnerville Ranchos it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This section of Carson River - East Fork in California is 7.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other
places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Cave Rock to Hangman's Bridge section is one of them. When you're paddling down a Northern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
