The Hangman's Bridge to CA-NV border stretch of Carson River - East Fork in Alpine County is 20 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Gardnerville Ranchos, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are some good stretches to paddle in this
river system, the Hangman's Bridge to CA-NV border stretch is one of them. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The wonderful Alpine County scenery and the beautiful way the
water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.

Carson River - East Fork is a location that is pretty dehydrated generally; January is the wettest month with most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. At Carson River - East Fork through the months of summer highs are in the 70's; the overnight is rather chillier of course,
typically in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Carson River - East Fork are in the 20's. Man, is there lots of enjoyable things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Near Carson River - East Fork you hit upon tremendous places like Cottonwood Canyon; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hot Springs.
