  This stretch of Cherry Creek - West Fork in California is 9.5 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The
    starting location is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Bourland Meadow to Cherry Lake section is the only
paddling section along Cherry Creek - West Fork. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Fork highs are regularly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Cherry Creek - West Fork temperatures descend to the 20's. Cherry Creek - West Fork is a relatively wet place typically with a lot of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is January while July is regularly the driest month.
So many amusing things to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada, too brilliant to be true. Cherry Creek Canyon is in the neighborhood of Cherry Creek - West Fork and is definitely a nice place to go to. The snow is great at Dodge Ridge, and a short spree to Shingle Spring is always worthwhile.
