The natural beauty of Tuolumne County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Bourland Meadow to Cherry Lake stretch of Cherry Creek - West Fork is 9.5 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cherry Creek - West Fork than the Bourland Meadow to Cherry Lake stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area
has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip.
