  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Tuolumne County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip,
    so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting your paddling
