This section of Cosumnes River in California is 20 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-V section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots     of good rivers for that around here. The beautiful scenery of California and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Highway 49 to Highway 16 stretch is one of them. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
