This section of Coyote Creek in Santa Clara County is 4.9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of California and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. nature will make you glad you came. Coyote Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Gilroy Hot Springs Road to Coyote Reservoir stretch is the only one. If you're coming from San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please
print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
