The Highway 32 to Route 99 stretch of Deer Creek in Tehama County is 43 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Red Bluff, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of California and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Getting a good workout and spending some
quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The Highway 32 to Route 99 section is the only paddling section along Deer Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find
a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Deer Creek are pretty good. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.

is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is July. There is a tremendous hiking trail in the neighborhood of Deer Creek called the Old Lassen Trail; you could always look at Dillion Cove. During the long summer days at Deer Creek highs are generally in the
90's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 50's with temperatures at Deer Creek dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Near Deer Creek you stumble on the Graham Trail which is a glorious hiking trail.
