Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Old mine trail to National Forest Kings confluence stretch is just one of them. The scenic beauty of Fresno County and the water flowing gracefully down Dinkey Creek will make you feel great. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Dinkey Creek is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. Whether you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. When you're paddling down a Central Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm days of summer highs here at Dinkey Creek get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Dinkey Creek
descend into the 20's. Dinkey Creek gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while July is usually the driest month. Just can't get enough of the Central Sierra Nevada. Don't leave Dinkey Creek without first paying a visit to Sycamore Springs, and no need to travel far to take a look at attention-grabbing stuff like Indian Rock.
