The Big Bend to Piercy section of Eel River - South Fork in Mendocino County is 21 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. This
river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Big Bend to Piercy stretch is just one of them. The beautiful scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you
can camp. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
