The Lowrey Road to Paskenta Road stretch of Elder Creek is 17.2 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Tehama County and the water flowing gracefully down Elder Creek will make you feel great. Whitewater paddling here in the Klamath Mountains is a great experience. There's camping available near Elder Creek. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to
stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than
the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Elder Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Lowrey Road to Paskenta Road section is the only one.
