The wonderful California scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are no other sections to paddle     along Elk Creek than the Elk Creek Road to Klamath River section. The beauty of the Klamath Mountains is a great plus for this river. This stretch of Elk Creek is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-IV section. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Elk Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout December, and the driest month of the year is July. For the duration of the summertime, highs generally are in the 80's at Elk Creek. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's.
