This section of Escondido Creek is 6.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. This is the only paddling stretch along Escondido Creek. The starting point is not too far from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, please     print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of San Diego County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Escondido Creek is pretty dried up generally; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the summertime months at Escondido Creek highs are regularly in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down   into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Escondido Creek are in the 40's.
