No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Sloat to Nelson Point stretch of Feather River - Middle Fork in California is 6.5 miles long and is     rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
