You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is
often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are plenty
of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Chico, as you can see on the road map further down.
Briefly about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. A short spree to California Nutmeg Spring is always worthwhile.
