The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Chico, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of Feather River - North Fork is 6.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of California and the water flowing gracefully     down Feather River - North Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cresta Dam to Poe Dam section is just one of many. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: Lots of rainfall falls at   Feather River - North Fork; throughout January this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. If you want to stop at some out of the ordinary stuff, stop at Arch Rock. Summertime at Feather River - North Fork arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 50's.
