Says Rick Stock The Little Grass Valley Reservoir to South Fork Diversion Dam stretch of Feather River - South Fork is 8.3 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to     drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There's camping available near Feather River - South Fork. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The nature scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.
