Madera
county,
Goldside Drive off road 600 to Road 600 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-V 3 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Madera, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some
quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The natural beauty of Madera County and the playfulness
of the water attract people from near and far. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This stretch of Fresno River is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience.
