If you're coming from Crescent City North it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Saddle Road to South Fork Smith confluence section of Goose Creek in Del Norte County is 5.6 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master
than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Saddle Road to South Fork Smith confluence section is the only paddling section along Goose Creek. The campgrounds here at Goose Creek are pretty good. The beautiful Coast Ranges
scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
