This section of Grindstone Creek in Glenn County is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The wonderful California scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.     For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Klamath Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are no other stretches to paddle along Grindstone Creek than the Grindstone Road to Road 306 stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: Grindstone Creek gets very little precipitation; all through January this area sees the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Grindstone Creek fall into the 30's.
