The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The Grindstone Road to Road 306 stretch of Grindstone Creek is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The beautiful Klamath Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There's camping available near Grindstone Creek. Since you're on this site you are     probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The Grindstone Road to Road 306 section is the only paddling section along Grindstone Creek. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 90's to Grindstone Creek, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Grindstone Creek.   Not much rain falls here at Grindstone Creek; through January this area sees the most rain; July meanwhile is the driest month. That right there is lots of entertaining stuff already but it goes on, the Klamath Mountains has it all. Bearwallow Spring is always fun to check out, and a short trip to Manzanita Spring is always worthwhile.
