The wonderful Trinity County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This stretch of Hayfork Creek in Trinity County is 21 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The 3
miles West of Hayfork to Hyampom stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
