The scenic beauty of Trinity County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the
great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The 3 miles West of Hayfork to Hyampom stretch of Hayfork Creek in Trinity County is 21 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. Whitewater paddling here in the Coast Ranges is a great experience.

December, and July is when it's the driest. It's always wonderful to stop by Fir Root Spring, and nearby you stumble on wonderful locations like Big Canyon. At Hayfork Creek during the long summer days highs are in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. For
the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Hayfork Creek dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights.
