The Gemmil Gulch Picnic Ground to Carr Creek stretch of Hayfork Creek is 12.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nature scenery of Trinity County and
the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. When you're paddling down a Klamath Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too.
