The Above Gateway Bridge to Dinley Bridge section of Kaweah River is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. If you're coming from Visalia-Porterville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The beauty     of the Southern Sierra Nevada is a great plus for this river. The beautiful scenery of Tulare County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Kaweah River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Kaweah River usually tend to be in the 90's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 50's, and overnight   lows through the winter for Kaweah River tend to be in the 30's. From a rainfall point of view Kaweah River is a rather typical place; through the month of January you get the most rain around here; the driest month is July.
