If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There's camping available near Kaweah River. The starting point is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: Kaweah River is in the vicinity of Shepherd Saddle which is beyond doubt worth a visit, and if you have   the time, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is a national park worth going to. So much exciting stuff to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada, not sufficient time. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Kaweah River, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's.
