This section of Kaweah River in Tulare County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The beauty of the Southern Sierra Nevada is a great     plus for this river. There's camping available near Kaweah River. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wonderful California scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Above Gateway Bridge to Dinley Bridge stretch is just one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: A wonderful place near Kaweah River is Shepherd Saddle, and if time allows, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park   is a national park worth checking out. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Kaweah River with night lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and night lows in the 30's for Kaweah River. Kaweah River is a good spot of typical rainfall; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is July.
