The wonderful Tulare County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Kaweah River have people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. When you're paddling down a Southern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.     There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The North Fork Bridge to Lake Kaweah stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The put-in location is a short drive from Visalia-Porterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: The yearly   rain here at Kaweah River is about average; January is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest. During the warm months highs here at Kaweah River reach the 90's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Kaweah River. A visit to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is worthwhile.
