Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This section of Kaweah River in Tulare County is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The starting point is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting a good workout and just hanging
out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Tulare County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the North Fork Bridge to Lake Kaweah stretch is just one of many.
No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Southern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip.

of common precipitation; the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest of the months is July. High temperatures at Kaweah River through the warm months are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Kaweah River descend into the 30's.
