The natural beauty of Tulare County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This section of Kaweah River - Middle Fork in Tulare County is 4.8 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American     Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Visalia-Porterville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beautiful Southern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: Kaweah River - Middle Fork is a good place of normal rain; most of the rain falls through January,   and July meanwhile is the driest month.
