Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Tarbell Pocket to Yucca Creek stretch of Kaweah River - North Fork in Tulare County is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming
from far and near. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty
decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. When you're paddling down a Southern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The put-in location is a short drive from Visalia-Porterville, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that.
