Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of California and the cool fresh water beats anything. This stretch of Kaweah River - North Fork in Tulare County is 8 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting
and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Tarbell Pocket to Yucca Creek section is just one of many. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for
a one day trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The put-in is not too far from Visalia-Porterville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. When you're paddling down a Southern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
