The starting location is a reasonable drive from Visalia-Porterville, there's     a road map further down the page with more info on that. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The natural beauty of California and the water flowing gracefully down Kaweah River - North Fork attract people from near and far. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting a good workout and just being out   on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. When you're paddling down a Southern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: If time allows, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is a national park worth a visit. From a rainfall point of view Kaweah River - North Fork is a pretty common location; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is July. During the summer, highs mostly are in the 90's at Kaweah River - North Fork. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 50's with temperatures at Kaweah River - North Fork dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
