This river smells like dirty diapers and beer. Says Joe Rafter Guy
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Visalia-Porterville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of California and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch of Kaweah River - North Fork in California is 6.4 miles long and is according
to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Southern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people.
